  • Synapse dependant.
  • Can capture Strategic Points.

Effective Against: Infantry

Global Upgrades:
  • Gaunt Acclimization I: Increases Health, Damage, and Speed.
  • Gaunt Acclimization II: Increases Health, Damage, and Speed. Requires the Synaptic Resonance Beacon upgrade to the Hive Spire.
  • Gaunt Acclimization III: Increases Health, Damage, and Speed. Requires the Perfect Link upgrade to the Hive Spire.
  • Biomorph - Hormagaunt Adrenal Glands: Improves reaction time and increases damage dealt in melee. Requires the Synaptic Resonance Beacon upgrade to the Hive Spire.
These upgrades may be purchased at the Hive Node, these upgrades will affect all of your Hormagaunt broods. Their effects do stack.

Special: Can be spawned "MaSS" (Maximum Squad Size) after the Perfect Link upgrade to the Hive Spire. This will spawn a brood of Hormagaunts at full size (16), spawn/reinforce faster and cost less than normal.

Strategy:
  • Good against enemy infantry in melee.
  • Large numbers can make an effective "meat shield" to body block and tie up enemy units.
  • Keep a Synapse Creature close by, or their morale will break in combat.
  • Combine with Spinegaunts and Termagaunts for maximum effect.
  • Great for capturing undefended Strategic Points.
